i have a friend who was complaining about her other friend insulting her for being a housewife. something to do with her “begging” for shopping money from her husband.

i thought about it for a while and finally told her that maybe this so-called friend got a lot of insecurities about being a (single) working mom.

who wouldn’t be delighted with free shopping money? and you got all the time to take care of your kid, witness his/her every milestone. plus you will have so much time for hobbies like cooking/baking and photography/scrapbooks.

but it’s always good to have your own money. it’s fulfilling to know you’re growing as your own person and that your world doesn’t just revolve around your husband and kids.

still, it’s just cruel to insinuate that being one is better than the being the other.
some women are just happy to juggle between their family and careers.
some women are just happy to be full-time parents.
different folks, different strokes. period.

working in a fixed shift has its disadvantages. with me forever working on a saturday night, tsk tsk!

well i guess we could stick to our monthly pizza night at our place…or next door…or house infront of next door (boohoo! may boyps na, nakalimutan na tyo!) ok na din, mas tipid. and Mikee could join in the fun since sanay na nmn tyo walang pineapple tidbits ang free hawaiian delight. eh kung bumili na lang ako ng del monte tidbits ano?

this is good news to my MIL. why not? children’s parties are usually held on a saturday. and i’d be selfish not to let my daughter attend just because i can’t come. my MIL can do the mothering in my absence. she’d be thrilled. ang mga matching (read: same) clothes nmin ni Mikee, for sunday mass na lang.

i was actually given options this morning.

1. mon-fri 7am-4pm
2. tue-sat 3pm-12mn (extended to 1am most of the time)

i thought about it.

option 1 will let me have a normal life. it’s like a normal 8am-5pm job, just earlier. catch? no shift premium.

option 2 will let me bathe and feed Mikee in the morning plus i get shift premium. catch? no fun saturdays.

aaah, things a mother sacrifice for her baby. i feel so much better now. bring it on!
