desktop tag

I’ve seen this tag before but forgot where exactly. Vannie had several blogs so it got me confused. :P Anyway, thanks Vannie for reminding me.

I place my navigations (start button, etc) on my left instead on the bottom. I change wallpapers monthly using the shabby princess desktop calendars. I also have Qlock so I know the time in Cincinnati, Manila, Warsaw and Tokyo.

How about yours, Aggie, Joy and Mai? I’m pretty sure you’ve changed your wallpaper too since your last desktop tag. ;)

weekend scare

While we were eating at the baptismal party, we suddenly decided we should go out for a swim since everybody is free for the weekend. Talk about spontaneity.

So we convinced one of our friends to ask permission from his dad to use their house and pool in Pansol for the weekend. He was at first hesitant saying his dad might not agree on a very short notice. Besides, the pool has no water yet. He said, if we asked the pool to have water, the pool will be ready by midnight. Anyway, his dad agreed.

So off we went!

But by midnight, the water was so hot! Quite expectedly, Mikee didn’t want to swim. She cried when daddy plunged in with her. The next morning, the water was still hot. Again, Mikee didn’t want to swim. But I honestly think if I can swim, Mikee will swim as well. But I don’t think my doctor will be very happy.

Oh well.

Anyway, Mikee woke up several times on our first night there. She was crying to see a different room. (Note: this is a ten-bedroom house with no one living there. The house helps have a different house on the lower part of the lot) But the freaky thing was, Mikee was pointing at someone/something at the foot of our beds while crying.

Yikes!

Tramway review

Last weekend, we went to a baptism at Sta. Rita church. I love this church ‘coz the posts, the doors, the Schlage and the like, looks old. Everything looks aged with time. In fact, hubby and I considered this church for us to be wed. (Unfortunately for hubby, I suddenly remember that I’d want to be wed on any church in Intramuros hehehe)

Then the baptismal party was held at Tramway. The place was spacious and subdivided so there were several parties being held simultaneously. Chinese food was served, more than enough for everyone.

What I didn’t like about Tramway were the servers. They were very impolite! The spoon/fork sets were sent sliding into our table. Duh?! It was a baptismal party, not a mahjong party.

With our experience, I will never recommend this place. Not only the servers represent the restaurant, for that day, they represent the party itself. Tsk, tsk.

too much expectations

Abie asked me and I was supposed to post my comment. Then I realized I’d be replying longer than I should so I decided to post my views on the issue.

Very much like motor development, speech development is always an issue to parents. (These struggles seem to be unending. When the kids get older, peer pressure and too much magazine-reading influences them to worry how to build muscle or have bigger boobs and more curves. Worse, they are pressured as to who gets the more dates.)

I was offended twice by remarks of someone (same person) who kept comparing my daughter to her niece and nephews. I almost cried when she said in front of us and Mikee, “Come here, Mikee, may communication problem ito eh” but decided to keep quiet and just tried to understand that this person does not know yet that you’re not supposed to say harsh words in front of a kid and these kinds of words could HURT a mother.

I know for a fact that speech delay is a reality. In fact, I have a friend who brings her son to therapies thrice a week.

Parents may have different views on speech delay but mine are as follows:

  • I am NEVER a fan of comparison. I hate comparison so much. I have a friend who is a wife of cousin of my husband. We have daughters of almost the same age. But she and I have never compared notes about our daughters. I believe this mother knows it’s never healthy to compare kids. Thank goodness!
  • Every child is unique. My sister was a late talker. She was always noisy mumbling stuff. Like Abie’s Bela, my sister was nauutal whenever she was overwhelmed and wanted to say so much. But my mom was never bothered. She had won declamation contests when she was younger, and had been hosting programs during her school days till now at work.
  • If my pedia says Mikee is not delayed, then she is not delayed.
  • My hubby argues that kids with pushy parents have greater suicidal tendencies. Hmm, makes sense.

To be honest, I think I am not bothered yet simply because me or any of my siblings were not advanced in our speech development.

(I initially did not want to brag but what the heck. My siblings are DLSU, UST and Mapua graduates. Comsci, Architecture and Com Eng respectively. I believe we excel in Math and Sciences. I was consistent Class Top 1 in St. James, grade 5 to 3rd year high. In Mapua, I got grades of 1.5 for my differential and integral calculus, subjects where 80% of the class failed. So do you really think I should worry?)

All I know is, like Mikee, we learned our numbers first before our ABCs. To each his own. ;)

play school hunting

Thanks to preschool choices, I was able to scout for Mikee’s perfect play school. Why perfect? Just a few steps away from our house. But the teacher I talked to, still have to consult with the directress if Mikee’s age will be allowed for the play group. She said Mikee might be too young for the group.

Now, next is to convince The Hubby that it’s time to enrol Mikee. :D

Friendster Overlay Tutorial

This morning, I was busy doing a friendster overlay tutorial. When I came back, I have 8 spam messages about insurances and several herbal medicine. Not to mention, I felt so behind my twittermates. I had to scan 3 pages of twit updates.

Today, I am starting to feel that I’m getting the groove back. (Side Kwento: a friend asked me if I want anything. Fruits, veggies, or perhaps a soda. I replied with “I want my life back. Drama!” Hahaha)

Or is this just sugar rush? ;)

Simply yummy. Although was turned off when I saw his sexy scenes with Aubrey Miles. Just too much for me.

Yes, you read that right. Tamahome, the anime protagonist of Fushigi Yuugi. Since this is all hypothetical, let me indulge. Crazy?
