logging off early

It’s only 10pm and I’ve finished working! Wow, that’s refreshing! I’ve been sleeping at 3am or 4am for the past ten (or more?) days. Since my laptop does not have most of the important application tools that we use at work, I always ask others to do some tasks for me during the day. Then I wait for hubby to come home so I could use his laptop. This is so that I can finish all the work for the day.

I wonder how long I’d have to do this. I’m expecting to receive my laptop back with the application tools that I need. I miss having the work done by 6pm. I could have at least taken a degree program at night that could help boost my career.

Anyway, tonight, I celebrate. I’ll sleep at 11pm. :P

My Expression Number is 1

I must admit, I am attracted to articles related to Astrology, be it Chinese or Western. Then I also checked Numerology. And today, just for fun, I tried this:

Your Expression Number is 1

You have the skills to be a top executive or businessperson.
But first you must develop your natural capacity to be a good leader.
You are truly original – with a creative approach to life and a very sharp mind.

You reach for the sky, and you have the potential to reach it.
Assertive and straight forward, you have little need for supervision.
You are self-confident, self-reliant, and courageous in your convictions.

While you sometimes fear loneliness, you prefer to be left alone.
A bit self centered, you may be hard to life with at times.
You also have a strong dominant streak – which can push others away at times.

family getaway

My sister is going on a business trip to Europe sometime in February and will be back the earliest on September. My father thought it’s a good time for a family getaway. It would be a good family bonding with my new brother in law before my sister leaves.

I browsed for several family getaways and remembered the Cancun All Inclusive Family Vacation package that hubby was tellingme. It’s the perfect vacation for our family bonding! There are different activities that we can enjoy such as flying kites or just have a casual chat in front of a campfire. Plus I get to enjoy taking pictures of whole family in a beach setting. And they have a family sized beach beds! That sounds fun!

updates

- While the little girl is being potty-trained, I spend time cleaning up after her. Sigh, motherhood.

- Three months to go and we are finished paying for the car’s monthly mortgage.

- Work? I remember my mom asking me how our company is doing. I think it’s doing good. Nobody has been fired. And we are hiring. There are major internal changes though. But my work, well, it’s pretty much messed up as it was. :P

10 thousand years more?

I was expecting my laptop yesterday. Well, yes, it did arrive. But when I turned it on, I realized it was formatted. :( All my other non-application documents (e.g. for non-technical roles) are gone. I didn’t back up these documents. Well, at least I was able to back up my Outlook personal folders (*.pst) I could get most of my documents there.

And guess what? I need to send it back to IT because there’s nothing there. I was able to log in without it asking for my (company or client’s) password. I just wish everything is ok by Friday. Sigh!

I’m on the verge of leaving this job in frustration. I am wondering if it would make sense to just quit and enrol for a second degree on an online college perhaps. I’ve been thinking about it. Let me just think it over some more.

online university

Are you hoping to finish your MBA while keeping a full time job? But the offered classes conflict with your schedule? Sometimes, lack of time and opportunity could get in the way of a dream.

Now, there’s a university online that offers programs in different fields such as Business Management and Information Technology. There are courses for a certificate, Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD among others. You can enter the course room anytime anywhere!

Capella University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the NCA (North Central Association of Colleges and Schools). Check the site for student loans, scholarships and grants. And make that dream come true.

potty training starts today

I placed it outside, somewhere in the corner of the terrace. Just making sure hubby won’t be complaining of any smell.

I think she’s ready. She didn’t complain when mommy didn’t put a diaper on her today. She even seemed to prefer it. Let’s see. It’s just our first attempt anyway. ;)

Besides, this year, we have few definite plans for the family. And in order for two or three of them to be fulfilled, I need to potty train the little girl. Can’t quite get the connection?

contradictions

It felt odd. I want so much to resign from work. But then, I feel lucky to be employed. I want so much to stop supporting the application at work. But then, I treat this application almost like a pet. I take care of it as much as I can. I want so much to shop for shoes, bags and digital cameras. And yet, I want to just stay home with my daughter. Where would I use the items that I’d shop if I stop working?

I guess I just have to find a balance. A vacation perhaps?

finding the same job elsewhere

The other week, I was chatting with a friend about migrating to other countries aside from US. We have two countries in mind. I used to assume that finding jobs for me and hubby would be easy since we both work in a multinational IT company. But with the current global financial crisis, I’m no longer confident about that. I think the only openings are jobs in the medical field or jobs in banking.

But there are companies that accept application and conduct initial interviews on the internet. Then once the application passes, they will be the one to endorse for your visa. The challenge is to find a company like that.

stair lifts

My aunt’s house has a long staircase, from the ground up to their third floor. It has the same look as the stair case we used to see on fantasy movies. I remember when my cousins and I were young, we pretended to be princesses walking down it to attend a ball. We enjoyed climbing up and down, laughed almost out of breathe because it was so tiring to traverse it. But we had fun, nevertheless.

Now that we’re older, just seeing the stairs is tiring. Just imagine how tiring it is for my old uncle and aunt to actually climb it. In fact, my uncle had renovated their house with Stair Lifts. According to him, he and my aunt are too old for the stairs. He said it used to be that they stay upstairs and list down what to do downstairs. They only go down if the list becomes long. Going down had become a chore for them. He said with the stair lifts, they could go up and down their house with so much ease.

Browse their site to find the perfect stair lift for you. They have wheelchair lifts and home elevators as well. Check the site now!
