shopping skills

Today, I can say that I have added some to my “efficient mommy” points. I was able to buy BG a pair of shoes without her to fit them, in her correct size! Ain’t that something? :)

To the left is her old pair (pardon the grubbiness, she uses this always, from sunrise to sundown hahaha) and to the right is her new pair. I swear I can’t remember the size of her old pair so I just sort of imagine her foot size. And I was right! Cool!

I remember my mother always finding clothes for me from the rack then kept saying “try this, looks good on you” which I’d give the disapproving look to. And gosh how she was right! She has never failed. Just by looking at the clothes, she knows what clothes does and does not look good on me. Everything, from hair clips, chemise or undies down to my shoes. Just one look, she just knows.

I hope I’d be as good as her. :)

he found his match

Hubby got his little wish today. He was able to find a pair of sandals that would fit his rather wide feet.

He asked me why don’t’ I buy a pair too so we’d have matching (same style but in purple) sandals. I declined and kidded him that I’d be more interested to buy a new lens. He told me that ok, I could buy a pair of sandals AND the lens. Wow! But still, I refused the offer. I can’t even bring myself to buy the nice pillar candles that I saw which would match my mom’s furniture accents.

Why didn’t I buy Crocs for myself? I can’t. I was telling myself that I could use my one-year-old flipflops. Yeah, call me little miss scrooge!

Oh I think we’re done shopping. I hope.

mix and match

Of course, the little girl has to shop too. We bought her two blouses and a pair of leggings that would match both tops. My new dress complements one top. And one of my blouses complements the other top.

You might notice that I haven’t taken off the tags yet. It’s because the little girl didn’t want to fit the clothes. I have no clue if it fits her or should we get the next size. I sure hope I could convince her to try them on in the next 6 days, well, that according to the exchange policy.

shopping blues

I love that I married a simple man. He has no qualms about his clothing or shoes. So I was wondering why he insists on getting an original for his beach sandals. I mean ok, I understand you buy originals for your shoes but beach sandals, you can get away with a knock off right?

We have scoured the stores of Nike, Adidas and Speedo but we can’t find anything that fits his huge feet. No, I’m not complaining. :P

So I told him he had no choice but to look for a knock off. You know the type that looks out of shape because it’s too wide? He said he’d rather wear his old sandals.

But he was able to buy 2 polo shirts and one nice short-sleeved polo that, I swear is a twin brother of one of his long sleeved polo. They look almost the same! Look:

Yes, he bought things that had nothing to do with our Bohol trip. I guess, he is still in denial. You see, he wanted to go to Boracay, not Bohol. :D

I shopped today

Today, I went to the mall to buy a blouse that I saw last week but not available in my size. I was particularly looking for size 3 since size 4 was big for me. This came as a surprise because I used to be size 4 on this clothing line.

Anyway when I checked Megamall, this blouse is available only in size 5 so I headed off to Shangri-La. When I tried fitting the blouse in size 3, I was shocked to discover that it is still big for me! Wow! You could just imagine how my eyes were glowing upon this realization.

Yes, I did buy the blouse but in size 2. And guess what? The shorts that I’d want to pair the blouse with is no longer available in the Shangri-La branch. So I had to go back to Mega again to buy the shorts. :P

I also canvassed for tv stands and Canon lenses. I reminded myself to stay focused and buy things needed immediately. Hubby is still procrastinating and would only like to buy his things next Saturday, just 5 days away from our trip! Yikes!

last Saturday

Last weekend, we went swimming with hubby’s team. BG had been twirling around like a ballerina that people kept asking me if she is taking ballet lessons. As I’ve mentioned before, I am open to any lesson she might be interested in. The last time I checked, they require little girls to be at least 3 years old to start the toddler ballet lessons. It would be wise to bring her to ongoing classes and show her what the kids are doing during lessons this summer. What I’m afraid of, she might actually like to join right away. :P

Anyway, I was happy to wear my new swimsuit last Saturday. I no longer feel fat. It looks like there’s no more need for any Anoretix. I still don’t think I’ve lost weight. But I do feel more comfortable with myself now. :)

too busy getting excited

Woah! It felt like I spend two thirds of my waking hour in front of my laptop, yet I haven’t blogged so much lately! Not that I have nothing to share. Hmm, I guess I was busy working, browsing for instant term life insurance quotes, digi-scrapping and thinking of the things to bring to our Bohol trip. Still, I have accomplished so far was the swimwear!!! Hahaha. Ok, I still have 10 days to prepare. Yes, I’m excited! Golly!

sudden twist of emotions

I was down when I received the bad news. My YM status reads “It finally sank in. It hurts I can’t breathe.”

My sister noticed it and asked me what it is. I told her I can’t tell. She started guessing what it is.

Sis: Miscarriage?
Me: No.
Sis: Are you sick? Mesothelioma?
Me: No.
Sis: Something happened to our parents?
Me: No.
Sis: Kuya DD has an affair with another woman?
Me: No.

I laughed. I realized that there are far worse things that could happen.
Thanks sister! :)

listening is the key

Ok, some of the results are true. That I love to converse with family and friends. But what isn’t true is that I can’t live without an iPod. In fact, that’s one gadget I could live without! I don’t mind not knowing the latest hits or the coolest music videos. I’m simply not a MUSIC person. ;)

You Communicate With Your Ears

You love conversations, both as a listener and a talker.
What people say is important to you, and you’re often most affected by words, not actions.
You love to hear complements from others. And when you’re upset, you often talk to yourself.
Music is very important to you. It’s difficult to find you without your iPod.

stylish and affordable eyeglasses

Zenni Optical in the New York Times?! Yes, you read that right. The said optical shop was mentioned on an article titled “Seeing Straight Without Breaking Bank” for their low cost frames. This was no surprise at all since Zenni Optical have Prescription eyeglasses for only $8!

The frames are not only affordable but stylish too. I found a pair for myself, that would look really cool both with my corporate and casual outfits.

I’m in a good mood today

Even if I slept at 4am digiscrapping and waiting for something that I missed anyway.
Even if I was awaken by hubby’s knock an hour later.
Even if he spent a boys’ night out with his cousins and uncle who just came home from Europe.
Even if he didn’t come back home by midnight like he said he would.
Even if I can’t find the Christian books that my parents are expecting me to bring tomorrow on our visit.

I love the bouquet I received today
