kids love hotdogs

Yesterday when I came to fetch BG, she was telling me how she likes hotdogs. I told her, ok she can have hotdogs when we go home, which I forgot anyway.

Today, I came to her playschool to take a peek (few minutes after they started playing). I saw the teacher making “hotdogs” out of play-doh while BG pretends to cook and eat them. Oooh… so that’s why she was telling me she likes hotdogs when she came out of their playroom.

I was not the one who came to fetch her. The nanny told me the teacher suggested we have hotdogs and rice as BG’s snacks. Hmm, I have observed that too, BG didn’t finish eating her snacks (sponge cakes) for all the past sessions. I sure hope hotdogs would encourage her to eat snacks in school. :)

My sister (who is now staying at a rented condo after staying at a hotel for two weeks) and I were chatting the other night. She went skiing with friends, and guess what? She left the digicam (she borrowed from me) inside the locker. I suggested she use it for videos while skiing. Oh well, at least her friends have taken some pictures of her. :) I kind of miss the digicam sometimes, especially when BG does something video-worthy. :P

it’s our bring-your-kid-to-work day

Today is our office’s bring-your-kid-to-work day. So after BG’s playschool, we went straight to my office. I just bought food from Jollibee and we ate on our way. I am the one in-charge of the registrations so I purposely arrived earlier than the rest. Good thing because I was able to take some shots. :)

It was held inside the recreation room.

She even has her own hp ID. :)

At 3pm, we went to my workstation so I could start working. I took pictures of her while playing on the hallway. Then Mr. Clear Men / La Paz Batchoy / KFC passed by, so I asked if it’s ok to take pictures of him with my daughter. He agreed (but didn’t pass by again on his way back, probably went around to avoid the stalker mom. BWAHAHAHAHA). The shot was blurry because, geez, I don’t know.

not the nose please

You probably heard or read by now that we have two new lenses (yes, singular form of the word “lenses” is lens not lense. ;) ): one Sigma and another Canon.

These are for our Hongkong trip later this year. Well, I haven’t decided yet what particular lenses to bring. That’s why I want to test them as early as now. We have almost perfected our itinerary but still haven’t decided on our hotel and travel medical insurance for the trip. Anyway, we have plenty of time.

As I was saying, I was too busy to even test the lenses. So I requested hubby to. He did some test shots using the Sigma, but preferred to continue playing his Wii than test the Canon.

Anyway, here’s one shot taken from across the room. I, knowing the focal length of the lens, covered my nose, which my dear husband always makes fun of. Thank goodness he decided to take pictures of my face instead.

Note: No cropping done.

If I find the time, and when it stops raining, I’ll take some shots around the garden.
Oh, we also bought a gary fong, which, in my opinion, has no effect whatsoever.

plan your vacation together

The pressure from work can add stress to your home and marriage. So it is advised that once in a while, the couple go on a date to chill out. And for special occasions like an anniversary, it would be wonderful to go on a honeymoon vacation, just the two of you and away from it all. This isn’t just relaxing, it’s good for your marriage too.

At Karisma Hotels and Resorts, they have honeymoon and anniversary packages that are both relaxing and romantic. You can enjoy a private candle light dinner for two on the beach, and a chilled bottle of champagne delivered to your room. There’s even a couple massage for half an hour. Check them out now!

one night to go!

It’s Thursday! One night to go and it will be the biggest Bebots EB this year! :D

It’s nice to find friends to have even just one common interest. But with Bebots, there are just so many!

Where can you find ladies who don’t mind holding a heavy SLR on one hand and tagging/carrying a toddler/baby on the other? Yup, that’s us! :) Well, of course, not everyone has a baby yet. Nevertheless, we share the same “hunger” for photo shoots. Plus, it just makes your Flickr PRO all so worth the pay! Just be ready for comments “galore” on your shared photos. ^-^

So what does a MWAC to do with her pictures? SCRAP, of course! This was what the original Bebot forum was about anyway. Funny, not every Bebot gets to scrap as often as we chat with each other. In fact, there are only a handful who still scraps. And, I think there are Bebots who has never scrapped at all. Hehe. :)

Then, Twitter came into the picture. Pun intended. :P
The chat about photography and scrapbooks extended to makeup tutorials, acne treatment, Twilight saga and of course, online shopping!

Oh, did I mention, that all Bebots are bloggers too? :D

ETA: You can read about the meet-up and view some photos here and here.

overprotective me

The husband has complained once too many that I am overprotective of our daughter. I think it requires more effort from a mother to just let loose rather than to overprotect your child. It’s called instinct. Mothers always want the best for their kids. Not that daddies don’t. It’s just women each has a certain level of obsessiveness/compulsiveness compared than most men.

Is a mother considered overprotective if she prefers to drive her child to school over riding the schoolbus? Or if she worries at the slightest possible mishap that could happen from playing around a parked car, with car lifts under? Murphy’s law, right?

Well, if you know how to stop being an overly protective mom, I’m open to suggestions. :)

ER experience

I forgot to share our ER experience during the Holy Week.

BG had to be rushed to the ER last week. Her temp shot up to 39.5 and got us worried. She even vomited several times. The ER doctor prescribed a different med (she just usually takes Biogesic for fever) which lowered her temp. We were then released. Six hours later, as prescribed, I gave her the same med given to her in the ER. From 38.7, her temp lowered to 35.6 which got me worried too. I kept checking if she’s having chills or something. We monitored her closely, sleeping or not. After two days, she got well. Thank goodness.

What I really want to share was what happened in the ER. Take note that this happened when BG’s temp had normalized to 37 so I’m quite sure she wasn’t hallucinating. Hubby and I were sitting beside her crib. Then we saw her waving at someone while smiling. So we glanced back to the direction she was waving at. No one was there. And we even saw her hand moved to her right slowly as if waving at someone walking away. So I sort of glanced at the kid on the next crib. Guess what? He was looking at the same direction! Yikes!

BG’s first haircut

BG is now 33 months old (or simply put, 2 years and 9 months old), and yet, she never had a haircut. That was until, yesterday, April 12, we went to a parlor for kids. I wanted a certificate with a sample of her hair on it. But we were told that their digicam isn’t working. Tsk, tsk. I even suggested that they use the photos from our SLR but they said they do not allow photos to be downloaded from another camera directly to their computer. Hmmm, I didn’t push the idea since I thought I could get a sample of the hair myself and then I can do a scrappage instead and just frame it. I would have the freedom on the page design and number of photos on the layout. (The certificate has only two: before and after) Plus, I could add some journaling and caption. And it saved me money of course.

This is one “before” photo. BG loves riding cars so the seat was perfect.

But she started complaining when the hair stylist had put tissue around her neck and then the robe.

So we requested for Dora to be played on the TV in front of her (instead of Playhouse Disney), and we started blowing bubbles which took her mind off the ongoing haircut.

Everything went well… until, her hair had to be blow-dried. She was scared of the sound from the blower.

Finally, we’re finished! And you’d think that her curls have been cut.

But 15 minutes later… the curls are back. :D

I sure hope I can do the framed layout (shadowbox?) for her first haircut SOON! Yikes!

Holy Week ritual

After hubby’s work (a little after lunchtime) last Friday, we went to Zambales. This used to be an annual ritual for us. We missed it for 2 straight years because of conflict with hubby’s work schedule. It felt good that we can visit the province this year.

The travel had changed, I’d say it has become more relaxed and faster. Thanks to SCTEX (Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway).

Also, there were some new establishments along the way. This created a little confusion but everything went well.

We missed going to Baybay (seaside) for a swim. According to hubby’s relatives, the waves were huge (what Zambales is famous for). Like any other Holy week vacation there, the food were aplenty. Since I was so bored, I was eating every 30 minutes. I thought I should have brought appetite suppressants with me.

By the time we were leaving for the procession though, BG was in no mood to walk! She wanted to be carried and I just thought she’d be too heavy to be carried throughout the hour-long procession. So I opted to stay in the vacation house with BG while hubby went on with the annual ritual. Sharing some pictures that hubby took during the procession:

BG got the sickies

I had to cancel my driving lesson for the day at the last minute. I noticed that BG was inactive than usual and her eyes were watery. Her temp was 39! The only thing that she did was take a bath. Maybe the water was too cold for her. But I was pretty sure the water was warm enough.

Thank goodness for Biogesic, she’s now jumping up and down on top of the bed. Still, we’ll give her meds every 4 hours just to be sure.

driving lessons: day 2

Refresher… So that your memory will be refreshed… Would eventually bring back memories, good and bad.

I was talking while driving, just so I could concentrate on the NOW than on the memories. I think this pissed off the instructor. He was sarcastic. I was laughing it off. I didn’t care. My legs were too tired to even care.

Now I remember why I didn’t like driving.
