HK revisited

I will say once again what I have told myself around 3 months back. I will never want to ride the ferry again.

Last October, I wasn’t able to hold it in and had to blow right when the ferry had docked. This was even on the trip back. And what do you know, same thing happened today! Imagine, I was able to hold it in for an hour but not anymore just when it’s almost over. Argh!

Anyway, it’s nice to see Hong Kong again. We weren’t able to roam around as we were in a hurry to go to Ocean Park. We just bought diapers for BG near the ferry terminal before heading to the nearest MTR station. One saleslady was trying to convince me into buying hair loss vitamin. And then, she offered Omega 3 supplements for BG.

It was also nice seeing ladies in winter clothing. Fashion there is a mixture of European, Korean and Japanese.

Oh, just my observation, it’s colder in Macau than in Hong Kong.

vacation: day 1

We woke up late so I did not expect to go to each place in our itinerary. And by 5pm, we’re already back to our hotel room. As early as 8pm, I was putting on my night cream. Now, this is what I call relaxation!

~

Earlier today:
Me: “Dad, let’s go to Venetian!”
BG: “Dad, let’s go to FE-ZI-SHAN!”

Is it just me or did she just say PHYSICIAN?

airport entertainment

Earlier (more like yesterday), I was entertained unknowingly by several people who like us, were waiting for their flights. First, I was watching people who passed by and their choices of wardrobe. I found the boots of two little girls cute but of their mom shady. Then there’s this woman probably in her 50s who dressed so well she’d be mistaken for a celebrity, but her face was so red and probably never heard of the best rosacea treatments.

And the most amusing of all that I saw earlier was when one guy who I’m guessing is in his late 20s decided to change his shirt in public, and showcased his torso, a lady probably in her 40s was watching and smiling the whole time. Looks like I wasn’t the only one who has gotten entertained.

me and my imagination

The other day before our shift started, my husband and I decided to buy a sandwich each for late lunch. The sandwiches were done in front of us. Since I have yet to try taking weight loss supplements and solely depend on my desire to lose weight, I ate half of my HBLT but decided to just eat the other half for dinner. I wish I did not as I could no longer eat it after reading an email like this one forwarded by an officemate.

Of course, I did not have the same incident. It’s just that I could imagine everything that was in the email. Ugh!

taking risks

A friend has taught me how to compare life insurance quotes from different companies. So I had been confident with the life insurance that I got. I just want to be secured, no matter what. But of course, life is about taking risks which is why medium (and/or high) risk investments will be the next.

Someone advised me that if I want to invest on stocks, I should consider investing on local ones as this would help our economy. It would be your “contribution” to the country. Plus, he said that I should study the trends carefully. I laughed saying that I’d buy only those that he buys. Yeah, I’m still not taking risks.

reach your dreams

When it comes to education, age shouldn’t matter. My mother is a testament to this. She had her masters when I was already in high school with my other siblings in elementary. Nowadays, those who had been planning to obtain a second degree or a master’s degree would be happy to know that they can do so, with the same high standards, from an online university.

A busy schedule is the most common excuse for not pushing through with your plans of enrolling. But at Western Governors University, their online degree programs are specifically designed for busy people. Now you can achieve your dream, working on it in your most convenient time.

standing still

Around 2 this morning, I was daydreaming about myrtle beach hotels oceanfront. Then I realized I’m in a pose. A pose so familiar, that it brought back memories.

I was holding a small cup on one hand mid air (like I’m about to make a toast), while my other hand rested on my waist. Funny how seven years could bring so much change to you, even if you’re just standing still. Because that’s how I feel, that I stood still when I realized that there are things in life that I will never have control of. All I can do is enjoy every second that passes by.

I was actually holding a cup of fabric softener waiting for the washing machine to come to its rinse cycle. Thus, the pose. Seven years ago, with that very same pose, a cup in my hand meant tequila.

I suddenly grew tired of standing still.

to my husband: HAPPY!

For the fifth year now, I can’t think of a cheesy anniversary message for you. Maybe, next year. No hurries. We have a whole lifetime, anyway.

HAPPY! I love you!

destination weddings

Five years of getting married is a milestone, especially for people who are still trying to figure out how it is to balance married life with their lives that they had been used to. While some celebrate their anniversaries through an out of town or country trip, others save up for renewal of their vows.

If I were to renew our vows, say twenty years from now, I’d like to consider one of those romantic destination weddings at the beach. I heard the white sand beaches of Riviera Maya offers the privacy and romance that couples look for in a resort for their wedding ceremony and honeymoon, as well. Plus, you can indulge in their gourmet-level cuisine. Just perfect.

trendy home style

I was organizing some reading materials around the house, when I chanced upon old copies of Better Homes and Gardens Guide-To Series. Most of the photos shared are outdated but still, the tips are still applicable.

These copies made me wonder what style of house we’d like for our family. So I browsed for some home style quizzes and found out that:

You’re “Trendy.” —– Trendy when it comes to home design is best defined as mid-century modern. You should start designing your home around modern, minimal pieces with punches of color and pattern. Don’t be afraid to raid your granny’s attic. The quick fix: Slipcover your couch in a neutral color and top it with tons of graphic print pillows.

Maybe. I love looking at those contemporary coffee tables on showrooms every week after buying groceries. But I picture our place having white interiors with minimal furniture, and very colorful accents.

expiration date on marriage contracts

Before I continue browsing for life insurance, let me just share with you my take on this one trivial issue: expiration date on marriage contracts.

First, I am not sure about the purpose of such suggestion or proposal. All I could think of is that they’ve thought about the money they’ll get from people who’d renew their contracts. I honestly think there are pros and cons on this. Because I could think of a hundred good reason for this if we’re talking about battered wives.

It’s just that this country has been pushing back the idea of divorce but now, suggesting the expiration date on marriage contracts. Quite a conflict there, in my opinion. For me, marriage is sacred, and a promise made by two people in front of the altar. (Although honestly, if it was just civil wedding, then it’s I guess it’s ok. Yeah, I’m weird. I know.)
