2011.08.27 baptism

Theo was born on June 10th weighing 7.15 lbs and was 48 cm in length. Yes, after the much bruhaha over his name, husband gave in and agreed on “Theo” as one of his names. Since Mikee was baptized on hubby’s birthday in 2006, we thought to keep the tradition and have Theo baptized and celebrate it with hubby’s birthday too. And yes, same church and reception venue. That’s how boring we are.

We were so thankful that even if there was a typhoon that day, most of our guests went to celebrate with us. It made Theo’s baptism so special. :D

Anyway, sharing my supplier reviews…

Baptismal gown: N/A

We were supposed to use the same baptismal gown that Mikee wore but I was chatting with friends and relatives that I forgot it inside our car. I would have wanted the usual photos of babies that were baptized, of Theo wearing a long baptismal gown with the priest. I only remembered about it halfway (and I didn’t want to interrupt) the baptismal rights. But the priest looked for the cap, which was just inside our baby bag. Hubby was actually relieved that I forgot the baptismal gown because he said it looks like it’s for a baby girl. Thankfully, Theo was wearing a white outfit so that’s good enough.

Invitation: 10

We had 2 kinds. One is just a layout shared via Facebook. The other one, we got from Somethin’ Fishy upon reservation and down payment. Why 10? Because I didn’t have to spend on it. :p

CHURCH: Christ The King Parish, Greenmeadows: 8

Again, we like it because the small space was just perfect for baptism. But there were 3 chapels, and only the guard knows which is for whom. So a funny story, our photographer took photos of guests from another baptism. Only after 30 minutes I think that they realized they were on the wrong chapel.

Also, since we don’t personally know the priest, well, he was on a hurry. The baptismal rights took about 15-20 minutes only. He was simply “cold”.

Reception Venue: Somethin’ Fishy (Eastwood, Libis): 7

The place on the 2nd floor is smaller now compared to the last time we had our reception there. But it’s ok, it accommodated our 70+ guests just fine. Food was great too but…
- I saw that the one who’s preparing the sushi wasn’t wearing gloves. OMG.
- it took long to replenish their Tempura.
- some guests had stomach trouble after eating their fresh oysters.

Baptismal cake: 10

Got this from my favorite baker, ThatLooksTasty (you may look her up at Facebook) who made Mikee’s birthday cakes and cupcakes for the past 2 years (Dora and Hello Kitty). I just showed her the paper shoes, and told her of my limited budget, and she came up with this.

Perfectly matched my paper shoes. :D

Souvenirs (keychain): 9

We ordered clay keychains of baby shoes from Clay Clayee. I chose this supplier because she’s offering it cheaper than the first choice. It wasn’t a bad decision because she was able to deliver on time and I like the keychains she made. She was also patient with me and my indecisiveness over the colors.

But she forgot that there should be name tags for the ninong/ninang’s keychains, and that I paid extra for those. Good thing, we exchanged text messages before she shipped the items so she was able to make the name tags in time. I think that was because she had a lot of orders that week, and mine was rush order.

Souvenir container (paper shoes): 10+++++

Hahaha. Because we made them ourselves. But I will never make these again.

Photographer: 10

My favorite duo, Jojo and Alpha, same people who did half of my maternity shots.
