2006.08.26 baptism

Mikee was born on the 4th of July year 2006, weighing 7.1 lbs and was 51 cm long. When I was still pregnant, our initial plan was to hold the baptism in the month of December. Primarily because relatives abroad could join the celebration. But when her pedia told us that there’s a hole in her heart, hubby and I were anxious to have her baptized at the soonest possible time. So we started planning, and decided to have her baptized on hubby’s birthday. Hence the double celebration. Thankfully, the hole closed right after she turned one month.

(side kwento: we tried our very best not to let her cry when we learned of the hole. but on her first-month visit to her pedia-cardio, she was crying incessantly and the doctor was saying, “sige, iyak ka pa! lakas pa!” of course this was to check her heart’s condition. Hay, wawa mikee :( )

It was a simple baptismal celebration. But i’d like to share our baptismal party supplier review.

Baptismal Dress: 10

I asked my mom to look for a nice baptismal dress. i wanted a white long dress, longer than mikee. as in pag binuhat ko sya, nakalaylay yung dulo ng dress. Then, my mom-in-law offered the baptismal dress that my sis-in-law wore. I was reluctant at first because my sis-in-law is now 14 years old! But when I saw the dress, I fell in love with it instantly. It was the dress I had in mind.

Invitation: DIY: 8

Kahit ako hindi satisfied haha. I did this on a hurry. Syempre I was busy taking care of Mikee most of the time. Saka I didn’t want to spend so much on the invites kaya I edited lang sa photoshop. As in walang design — picture nilagyan ko ng details — tapos na. Then had them printed sa kodak. Yun lang. 8 pa din kasi gawa ko hehehe. Saka hello, nakatipid ako! :P

CHURCH: Christ The King Parish, Greenmeadows: 8

The ambience is good. Very solemn. Small space, just right for a baptism. I didn’t like the priest, his hands were shaking and he poured holy water right on mikee’s face. (father, binyag po, hindi facial) Nagising tuloy si mikee.

Reception Venue: Somethin’ Fishy (Eastwood, Libis):10

The celebration was held on the second floor. Very spacious and the lighting was good too. Maaliwalas. And the food was G-R-E-A-T!!! Ang sarap promise! This came as a surprise kasi when out on a gimmick, I don’t find their food special. Ang sarap ng kaldereta at pinakbet. Hmmm, yummy!

Baptismal Cake and Cupcakes: Sugarbox: 8

The cake and cupcakes were really cute. Masarap. Kaya lang minus points kasi na-late. The guests started coming in, wala pa ang cake. Napagkamalan tuloy baptismal cake yung nappy cake na gift from one of the godparents. Pero 8 kasi ang cute talaga! :)

Tarpaulin: SIGNTECH: 10

Very simple lang. Kasi ako din lang ang nagdesign. Since I was very busy taking care of Mikee –picture nilagyan ko ng details– tapos na. Hehe. Signtech printed it at a very high resolution. At ang laki! Artista? Haha. After the baptism, we hung it for a while right outside our bedroom and everytime, we pass by, Mikee would smile at it. Vain? Haha.

Souvenirs: Photo Mugs: 10

Bought saan pa kundi from Divisoria! I just emailed them mikee’s picture. (yes, sosyal na ang tabora ngayon, paemail email na lang hahaha) Cute cute ng mga mugs. Then I bought white tulle and pink and yellow ribbons (her motif, pansin nyo?) and wrapped the mugs. Viola! Hindi naman sa pagkukuripot, praktikal lang.
