my dream houses

More often than ever, I’ve been fantasizing about our dream houses. Yes I have more than one dream house. One being a small cozy house where we’ll stay on weekdays and near the city, while another a spacious country house where we’ll stay on weekends far away from the city.

I’ve been thinking of rooms with Progress lighting. I still can’t decide if I prefer romantic looking bedrooms with shades of purple/violet and grey, or fresh theme using shades of white, black and wasabi (yes, that pale minty shade of green).

trendy home style

I was organizing some reading materials around the house, when I chanced upon old copies of Better Homes and Gardens Guide-To Series. Most of the photos shared are outdated but still, the tips are still applicable.

These copies made me wonder what style of house we’d like for our family. So I browsed for some home style quizzes and found out that:

You’re “Trendy.” —– Trendy when it comes to home design is best defined as mid-century modern. You should start designing your home around modern, minimal pieces with punches of color and pattern. Don’t be afraid to raid your granny’s attic. The quick fix: Slipcover your couch in a neutral color and top it with tons of graphic print pillows.

Maybe. I love looking at those contemporary coffee tables on showrooms every week after buying groceries. But I picture our place having white interiors with minimal furniture, and very colorful accents.

Sky Garden

Today, we went to SM (The Block and Annex) to check out some copper kitchen sinks that my mother asked us to check. The husband was actually looking for a new mobile phone, while I, as planned earlier, checked out the sky garden.

Against my husband’s and daughter’s will (hehehe), I had our pictures taken.

Too bad we went there in the afternoon as many people say the garden looks great in the evening when it is all lit up.

long weekend

The long weekend is about to end. I was happy and satisfied because I was able to rest for 3 straight days. I was able to clean up a little clutter that has been lying around our place unnoticed. It took me 4 mean hours just to clean our small space. I wonder how much time I could have saved if I have one of those central vacuum systems! Well, it’s ok, I consider it a form of exercise, which I badly need anyway.

window shopping

Aside from house hunting, I enjoyed checking furniture stores. I have been mentally computing for showcases. I didn’t really write the prices down because I know I might have another *favorite* on the next season. But at least, I have some estimates. I now know the cost of a simple yet fresh-looking living room showcase that I want, more or less. And, I’m trying to develop the eye for mixing and matching, say, a certain sofa set with certain tv stands. I know looking through magazines, websites and even furniture store would give me great ideas. Plus, it’s really a nice stress-buster.
