This may be late but what who cares: Kung Hei Fat Choi!!!

Unlike the previous years, I wasn’t able to prepare anything for the CNY eve the other night. Last year, we scheduled a dinner date for the 3 of us. We made sure we were eating together at around midnight, and our table at home has a bowl of rice with gold coins, and oranges. We watched fireworks, along with other partying people. It was like a very big party outdoors, music, alcohol and too much smoke you’d probably be positive in a cotinine test.

But this year, we stayed at home, and just oranges on the table. I totally forgot about the rice and gold coins. And I think the 3 of us were eating chocolates, not sea foods nor tikoy (Chinese New Year pudding?), at midnight. Hahaha. Oh well, at least we’re together.

I saw an officemate browsing different medical job sites. It surprised me because being in IT field I didn’t expect anyone from the team to consider “hopping” from one field to another. As it turned out he was just browsing for inspirations for his website layout. So why those sites when there are tons of other interesting sites online? His website, he says, is about his contributions on medical missions as a volunteer aid worker. He wanted that medical look. He says one doesn’t need a medical background to volunteer doing things such as helping carrying the vaccines and medicines from one place to another. Not bad.

I’ve been reading headphone reviews as I’m planning to buy one. You see, I figure facing the laptop for a mean 8 hours (an hour for lunch/dinner) could really strip one’s energy, not to mention mentally draining. It would be nice to have headphones at work to listen to some music. I’m not really a fan of the earbuds type. Like my bangles, I prefer the chunky full size headphones. Hmmm Skullcandy or CrystalRoc Sennheiser?

More often than ever, I’ve been fantasizing about our dream houses. Yes I have more than one dream house. One being a small cozy house where we’ll stay on weekdays and near the city, while another a spacious country house where we’ll stay on weekends far away from the city.

I’ve been thinking of rooms with Progress lighting. I still can’t decide if I prefer romantic looking bedrooms with shades of purple/violet and grey, or fresh theme using shades of white, black and wasabi (yes, that pale minty shade of green).

I was admiring summer trip photos of my friends earlier today. I even asked a friend on the estimated expenses if me, my husband and daughter would go “there”. I was specially attracted to the outdoor chaise lounges. He shared that even if the cost of their entire trip was very affordable, there was nothing much to do. He said they had to go to another place to have fun. He even shared that the island isn’t much for kids, beach being unpredictably deep/shallow. Geez, after learning that, the tourist spot’s now on the bottom of my list.

From 1st grade to 4th grade, I studied in a school very near my mother’s workplace. It was actually so far from where we live. I remember being fetched by the schoobus at 5am! The only reason my parents enrolled me to that school was I can stay (and play around) my mother’s workplace in the afternoon.

Then on 5th grade, my parents decided I should be enrolled to a school nearer to our house. Well, it’s the nearest “competitive” co-ed school, I guess. That was the time, my sister and brother started kindergarten and nursery, respectively. It would make sense enrolling us 3 in the same school.

Anyway, the transfer was abrupt. I had no chance to say goodbye to my few friends, 3 that I could remember. Just the other day, I was browsing my cousin’s Facebook (who studied and graduated from the same grade school) when I thought of checking her list of friends. One particular surname caught my eye. Is it possible that this girl is related to one friend that I’ve been looking for?

I saw a familiar name. Familiar ‘coz she sort of dropped her first name and is now using her second name. I added her hoping she’s the right person and that she still remembers me.

Yes it’s her! We exchanged messages. I suddenly felt old. (Wait, I know I don’t look old ‘coz I use the best wrinkle cream in the market. I just felt old.) I felt that yes I made some faults but chose to be responsible of the consequences and made the right decisions.

But guess what? I’m only halfway the journey! I say, bring it on!

I know – I am so delayed with the news! It seems that after gray, brown replaces black as the new black. I have seen a lot of stores with brown combinations and I am liking it. Even at weddings, it seems brown is often paired with other colors. I haven’t decided which color combination I like best – I need to have to get back to you on that one.

Mr. Sun suffered a huge setback last month. He was delayed by grey skies and thunderstorms.

Nevertheless, Mr. Sun is here and it’s time to hit the beach! I wonder if I will be able to plan a trip to the beach with the family. (And as I was writing this, rain started to pour – GREAT!) I just hope Mikee will enjoy the beach – she didn’t enjoy the pool very much when we were in Bohol. But Mommy will never stop trying, of course.

This is the last day of the week but first day of work for me. I was on leave Monday and Tuesday, and was on training Wednesday and Thursday. I guess I’m still not in my working mood.

Anyway, the training was boring. The only time I got interested was when the trainor told us (chismis) about this local company on the brink of getting behind its competitors. So what the company did was hire someone from abroad to clean up the corporate “mess”. The first thing that this person did was asked all employees to log everything they do every 15 minutes. So based on those logs, they fired everyone (regardless of tenure) with redundant or unimportant roles. This person will leave the country after a year or so. Geez, you travel to another country to fire people then go home. Coolest job huh?
