got you covered

Some people wonder why I am still with the company I am working for. Except for the work from home benefit, I have nothing else I could think of to brag about working there. Haha. But if I were to leave, I will still prefer a multinational company. Maybe because I trust big companies to abide by the law, and send their employees’ contributions to SSS, HDMF, etc.

This is probably because I’ve heard too much sad stories over the news (usually while riding a cab on the way to work) complaining the denial of their social security disability claim. Sometimes, it would be because the previous employer didn’t remit the contribution. And you guess it right, most of these companies are small to medium businesses.

Well, another thing that I also consider is the medical coverage provided by a company. Being married and having a child, it would rattle me to have unexpected medical expenses. It’s comforting to know that the company you’re working for got you covered. :D

photo printing

The husband’s family has been in the printing business for some time now. So if I ask them what a xerox phaser 8560 is, they’d probably know.

Aside from the usual photo printing, they are also printing photo mugs, photo shirts and all other souvenir items that one can print on. I wouldn’t be surprised if they decide to expand and have a photobook printing and binding service, or a photobooth service for parties. That would be awesome. :)

driving proportions

They say that your choice of your car is inversely proportional to your size. Could be true as I always wanted to drive 4 wheel drive SUV. And I remember someone in college, a Civil Eng’g student, a very big guy, driving a Z3. Woohoo! :D

Still, men prefer atv over all other vehicles. It could be that it makes them more masculine looking. Or they could trek almost any place that they love going to. No idea. Because I’d always prefer a spic and span car instead of those muddy ones. And it would be just wrong to keep an atv clean all the time. ;)

weekend shopping

My mom asked me and my cousin to accompany her to the mall to pick up a formal blouse but instead got a very flattering pair of slacks. Not only that it accentuates her features and hides her flaws (hehe), it was on sale! I told her to buy all the colors that she could see but after checking, all the other slacks were size 14 and bigger. Tsk tsk.

While walking on our way to the parking area, I saw that GIngersnaps is on sale! So I grabbed Mikee a pair of pants which she badly needs because her school does not have a uniform. The fabric is good almost like jeans, it looks so nice and only costs 280 pesos, which a pair of leggings would cost.

Consequently, I grabbed two blouses (that weren’t on sale) to match and a pair of cute sandals. But as soon as the cashier swiped the barcode scanner on the tag, I realized I shouldn’t get the sandals as my daughter’s feet are wide, and the sandals might be too big in length but too small in width.

Anyway, when I got home, my daughter was too happy to see her new clothes. That’s my girl!

dreaming of gold

I have dreamt of the same dream twice. It wasn’t the same house, my parents’, but the same scenario. But the second one was worse than the first. I looked it up for an interpretation and was surprised to read someone’s dream shared in the site to be almost same with mine.

I guess I was just worried for my parents’ security. My mother jokingly told me that my father does not keep his bullions at home. Not that he has one. He collects gold coins but not bullions. Plus, he trusts the bank too much as storage for the more precious ones rather than have them at home.

surprise surprise

A friend asked if she can borrow my wedding gown. I agreed but was curious who needs it and why. Her cousin will be using it for her creative shot of her grad pictorial. Not bad. She better makes sure though that the boyfriend doesn’t sees her in that, or she might scare him off. Hahaha.

So earlier this week, I checked my gown’s condition. I was surprised to see 13 gold coins in the box. They were our unity coins, which I never got to remember I left it there supposedly for the mean time. Surprisingly, the coins are still clean and shiny. But the gown isn’t. U-oh.

N-where

I am reading about Blue Cross Blue Shield NC trying to figure out which plan would fit our needs and budget. But I realize I’m not even sure why I was planning a life in NC when our family lifestyle may be a match to that of in NJ.

Well, only because the husband has relatives in NJ. But if I care much about cleaner air and the seasons (oh I love countries with four seasons because there’s so much to take pictures of! hahaha), I’d pick North Carolina.

Ok, fine, let’s settle with NY.

good angle, good lighting

I’m not sure if it was just the kitchen lighting but our daughter seems to look a bit fairer in the morning. Not that it’s important. In fact, I’m excited to migrate to a country where tan is hot. Still, I prefer to take pictures of her in the morning. I’m a no-flash-please type of person.

Honestly, when I was younger I like to have fairer skin but I think just 6 years ago (talk about late bloomer) that I realized I like my skin tone. I even want to have a little more tan, except for my face which is oddly darker than my arms and legs. But of course, I still wish for smaller pores.

That’s the huge difference between me and my daughter. Her face is much fairer than the rest of her body. Again, not that it’s important. I just want her to accept herself as she is… early in life. ;)

in a year or two

My father has started teaching my brothers how to collect gold coins, and also handed them some of his collection. My two brothers have started buying investment products, and it only makes sense for him to share his learnings as a coin collector.

My mom on the other hand, collects jewelry, so she understands my father’s passion well. In fact, I think their collections are complimentary. Both are good investment products which will last more than a lifetime, and can be passed on from one generation to another.

But in my parents’ case, they plan to use it to secure their not so distant future, say in a year or two.

my pink ties

This weekend, I re-organized our cabinets. I just had to go out with the old, in with the new. I saw my pink ties that we used during a company dance contest and we had to wear the same stuff. I remember dancing with 4 other mommy co-workers then. Geez, I joined two dance contests in my previous job, but I haven’t even dance during any of my current company events.

No, not stage fright. More of my body not wanting to move anymore.

is it goodbye, lappy?

Before I refresh my laptop later, I had to back up my files. “Refresh” in office terms (at least in our office) means you’ve been using the same laptop for 4 years. Well, mine is technically with me for less than 4 years, but our employee website says it is 4 years so I guess hooray for me! My laptop isn’t reliable anymore. Plus, I badly need a bigger memory because for quite some time now, it takes half an hour before I can normally use my laptop after it boots up.

Oh yeah, there’s a catch. Before I can have it refreshed, I had to format it, and install that new enterprise format (?) So yes, it’s not that easy. Stress!
