over the ear

I’ve been reading headphone reviews as I’m planning to buy one. You see, I figure facing the laptop for a mean 8 hours (an hour for lunch/dinner) could really strip one’s energy, not to mention mentally draining. It would be nice to have headphones at work to listen to some music. I’m not really a fan of the earbuds type. Like my bangles, I prefer the chunky full size headphones. Hmmm Skullcandy or CrystalRoc Sennheiser? :)

my ‘flash forward’

Have you been watching or watched just even one episode of “Flash Forward”? The storyline is everyone in the planet suddenly passed out and had a glimpse of their future 6 months from that moment.

I sort of imagine myself in that situation. It’s like, if I saw myself doing whatever I am doing now on November 25th last year, would I have been happy or disappointed?

I’d probably be disappointed. I just realized that I am an optimistic person, so hopeful that a dream could happen anytime soon. I could picture myself in a big country house with contemporary sofas and big kitchen and an organic garden, without much consideration as to when and how that would be realized. Law of attraction, right?

And to see that all these dreams won’t be realized in 6 months would be just depressing. Or maybe not. We’ll never know.

cebu pac sued for special child discrimination

Today, I sort of “guided” some friends book their summer getaways while cebu pac is having their 50% sale. Everybody seemed to be happy with their booked trips.

Sadly, some former patrons of these seat sales are still mad over the special child discrimination that happened recently. A mother and her special son were initially denied to board since there’s a policy not allowing TWO special kids on board at the same flight.

I understand the frustration felt by fellow parents about the incident. I can’t think of a good reason for the said company policy. So everybody can book, but if you have a special child, you’d go running to the plane to make sure your child is the FIRST special child on board? Tsk tsk.

Esquire’s 2009 Sexiest Woman Alive

When I first saw Kate Beckinsale in one of her movies “Serendipity”, she instantly made a fan out of me with her you-can-never-fool-this-girl beauty. But her role in Underworld sequels in my opinion, showcased her tough beauty the most.

I sometimes have the urge to go to a dress-up party imitating her hair and makeup. I so like her eyes and smile. I even sometimes wish to have a similar set of teeth. I wonder if a simple visit to a prestigious Orange New Jersey cosmetic dentist will do the trick.

Anyway, it didn’t surprise me that she was chosen as Esquire’s 2009 Sexiest Woman Alive. She definitely deserves it.

same same?

I remember someone telling me that she noticed something about Beyonce’s music videos. Apparently, most of the new ones, she has two back-up dancers. She said, it’s like Beyonce still can’t get over her Destiny’s Child days.

Anyway, I was watching TV while BG was playing right outside our room. Then she heard Beyonce singing “Sweet Dreams”. Without looking at the TV, she started singing “uh-oh… uh-oh… uh-oh!” She thought Beyonce’s new song is just the same with “Crazy in Love”

Enough said.

cable reruns brought back memories

I’ve admitted many times that I do not watch TV as often as normal people do. But I must admit that there were sitcoms in the past that I got hooked to, like take for an example, Friends and Ally McBeal.

Just the other day, I saw Ally McBeal on cable. The episode revolves around one Seattle personal injury lawyer. I heard Vonda Shepherd’s voice in the background music and it brought back memories. It’s weird though that I can no longer feel the sadness that used to overcome me on each episode.

I realized, things have changed for me that I can no longer relate to the loneliness. That, or watching them again isn’t as “strong” as the first time.

we know who truly deserves it anyway

I’m not really an avid fan of Dolphy but I respect his work and what he has achieved. I, like so many Pinoys, was disappointed to know that he was not named as one of the New National Artist awardees.

Plus let me just say that, I hate the gory true-to-life movies that Carlo J. Caparas did. Not really something to make you proud as a Pinoy. Ok fine, I did not watch any of them.

Bygones.

I’m ready to cry again on August 14

Have you read the book or watched the movie trailer of “The Time Traveler’s Wife?”

I did both. And I was crying non-stop, which is why I am quite sure I’d cry buckets when I watch the movie on August 14. I am honestly not sure why I cried. Maybe it’s because it hurts to be left by someone you deeply love but because of that love, you willingly wait.

I couldn’t imagine my life with my husband to be like that of Henry’s and Clare’s. It would just drive me crazy. No kidding.

Laiya, Batangas

After the much-talked about destination wedding of Ryan and Judy Ann last April, there has been an increase of dreams among brides for destination weddings. Before, it was Caleruega in Nasugbu, Batangas which was a wedding dream (and hot) spot. Now, I can feel that pretty soon (maybe next summer in fact), Laiya, Batangas will be swamped with weddings!

I was a bride myself and I cannot help but be amazed by all the planning the wedding took – the secrecy itself was such a hard thing to do. No wonder Rita Neri is THE wedding planner :)

ER experience

I forgot to share our ER experience during the Holy Week.

BG had to be rushed to the ER last week. Her temp shot up to 39.5 and got us worried. She even vomited several times. The ER doctor prescribed a different med (she just usually takes Biogesic for fever) which lowered her temp. We were then released. Six hours later, as prescribed, I gave her the same med given to her in the ER. From 38.7, her temp lowered to 35.6 which got me worried too. I kept checking if she’s having chills or something. We monitored her closely, sleeping or not. After two days, she got well. Thank goodness.

What I really want to share was what happened in the ER. Take note that this happened when BG’s temp had normalized to 37 so I’m quite sure she wasn’t hallucinating. Hubby and I were sitting beside her crib. Then we saw her waving at someone while smiling. So we glanced back to the direction she was waving at. No one was there. And we even saw her hand moved to her right slowly as if waving at someone walking away. So I sort of glanced at the kid on the next crib. Guess what? He was looking at the same direction! Yikes!

wondering about the future

My father-in-law is on facebook, friendster and different forums. He chats with family and friends over at YM almost everyday with his webcam. He has a wide collection of E-books, and creates videos using photos and mp3′s. In short, he is tech-savvy.

All these are nothing if we are talking about a teenaged, 20 or 30-something man but my father-in-law is in his 50s. It amazes me how middle-aged people can know so much about the internet and the latest technology.

I wonder if hubby and I will be as tech-savvy say 20 years from now. Will everything be ordered from the internet that no one goes to the mall anymore? Will the house lawns be filled with digital signages to leave messages (e.g. for the delivery guy, “Don’t stick your hand on the mailbox. Big dog waiting by the door.”)? Will there be another technology leaving the internet dated?

Will my blogs still be up? Well, I hope so, in one form or another. :)
