When it comes to education, age shouldn’t matter. My mother is a testament to this. She had her masters when I was already in high school with my other siblings in elementary. Nowadays, those who had been planning to obtain a second degree or a master’s degree would be happy to know that they can do so, with the same high standards, from an online university.

A busy schedule is the most common excuse for not pushing through with your plans of enrolling. But at Western Governors University, their online degree programs are specifically designed for busy people. Now you can achieve your dream, working on it in your most convenient time.

Oops, no. BG isn’t attending an aerobics class. This photo was taken during the “Reading Makes You A Star” program for their book fair in school.

I found the outfit so cute on her. I hope she can use it again for the next fun run. Or maybe, since I’m considering taking diet pills, I might just enroll us in a mommy and daughter aerobics class instead.

Anyway, after that event, it is semestral break for the little girl. Well, for me too as I do not need to wake up early.

“Prevention is better than cure.”

This morning, BG’s school held their first Family Fitness Fun Run of the year. My daughter was too sleepy as the registration was at 7am. She was so used to getting up at 9am.

I actually had more fun during the 30-minute warm up session where a fitness instructor led the parents and kids. We stretched and danced in preparation for the run.

Daddy took this that’s why he wasn’t in the picture. I have no pictures of us while three of us were running together. I sure hope the teachers post the photos they took during the run.

The other day when I came to the school to fetch BG, I heard a boy crying. When the teachers opened the door of the juniors’ room, I heard her assured the mother that her son has just started crying again. To me, it was like the teacher wanted to assure the mom that her kid did something worthwhile instead of just crying.

Honestly, I expected a lot of crying on the first month of the school year. For some kids, it is their first time to be away from their family and to be left to a set of strangers. Totally understandable.

I am glad that we enrolled BG to the summer play group. When she came out, her teacher told me, “..and here’s BG, wala lang. Sanay na sya, mommy.”

This morning, the parents were oriented at my daughter’s school. They explained to us their method of teaching, progressive, that each child is unique. We were also told of the guidelines such as where to fetch the children, exit signs, parking spaces, and the like. After listening to the teachers, I realized we made the right decision enrolling BG there.

I was also told that BG’s class has 8 kids. Seven of which are boys!!! My daughter is automatically the class muse! I was shocked because back in her Kindermusik class, they were all girls in the class, so I thought that her generation is composed mostly of girls. Obviously, I was wrong.

As much as I’d love to think of other feminizing activity for my daughter, I can’t. I am still anxious about the school year opening and the work schedule change that I have. I feel so unprepared for BG’s school, and I am restless. My mind is racing with questions like “Is she ready for a Monday to Friday commitment?”, “Is she equipped enough?”, “Did we forget to buy something that she needs?” or “AM I READY TO BE A MOM TO A SCHOOL KID?”

PLUS, the work schedule change makes me feel very… uneasy, very much like a new hire. Actually, no, because I was always excited whenever I was the new hire. I am wondering if both my body and mind are ready to start the day early to care for my daughter’s needs (till she comes home from school), and work late in the office and come home late. I feel so tired just thinking about it.

Add to that is the upcoming birthday of the little girl. STRESSSSSSSSSSS….
