WP upgraded

Everytime I log in, I am prompted that I can now upgrade my WP. Lazy that I am, I’ve ignored it for 2 version upgrades. I was simply too lazy to back up my files. This morning, Vannie was asking me about the upgrade and I had no idea what to answer so I decided to upgrade both my blogs. I could have at least a decent answer to anyone who will ask again.

I upgraded berryscrappy first just to be on the safe side. I’m more willing to give my scrap blog than this blog. Hahaha.

I encountered “Database Upgrade Required” error during the WP upgrade. I thought to myself that geez I’ve screwed up as I have predicted. So I scanned the wp support forum and all of which (that I cared to check) were still unresolved. I decided to check the upgrade.php file. I did something that seems logical. I changed ‘url’ to ‘http://berryscrappy.com‘ and tried reloading the page. Well, it worked for me. So I posted what I did on the forum. Hope it helps others too. Although I’m still uncertain that this is the right solution. :P

I upgraded this blog next. And I now receive comment moderation emails, which for reason I still do not know I do not receive since I got my (bloggerhappy) domain. I plan to install the comment responder plugin soon. All right! :)

two good news

Aggie told me about the good news regarding this and my other blog. I’m so happy! At least I will no longer worry if I’ve been hit by something or not. Although I’m not sure where to check. The last time I checked (this morning) no good news yet. Hmmm… Anyway, like what Aggie said, hopefully these (good news) stay. :)

Friendster Overlay Tutorial

This morning, I was busy doing a friendster overlay tutorial. When I came back, I have 8 spam messages about insurances and several herbal medicine. Not to mention, I felt so behind my twittermates. I had to scan 3 pages of twit updates.

Today, I am starting to feel that I’m getting the groove back. (Side Kwento: a friend asked me if I want anything. Fruits, veggies, or perhaps a soda. I replied with “I want my life back. Drama!” Hahaha)

Or is this just sugar rush? ;)

stoned no more

Have you noticed how silky, bouncy and full of life your hair becomes when you have finally decided and about to cut your hair really short?

This was exactly how I felt when I took my shower few hours before my gall bladder removal. I was admiring my seemingly silky, soft and supple abdomen. Even my big belly, I thought was very sexy at that moment.

I had not been feeling well for two consecutive days. But in the afternoon of the second day, I decided to go to the hospital. I knew that what I was having was gall stones attack but I suspected there was something else. I felt like I have an infection of some sort.

When I got there the doctor immediately advised to have my gall bladder removed. There were many stones (as my anesthesiologist said “I lost count at 18…”) and unfortunately, one of which had gone out of the bladder and passed the bile duct (which explained why I was as yellow as Big Bird).

The doctors have warned that after the operation, I’d be REALLY gaining weight. I thought at that moment, “Duh? With what I’m feeling now, do you really think I’d care?”

The first three days after the operation was A-OK. Each time I felt any abdominal pain, they gave me a shot of pain reliever. From the very first day of operation, I was doing some law of attraction imagining good things like a long vacation, or shopping for designer jewelry,  but instead, morbid images kept flashing on my mind. I’m not exaggerating when I said morbid. Images like the ones you see on movies like Hostel and Room 1408 kept flashing. Maybe an effect of the meds they’ve been giving me.

But on the fourth day, the doctor had stopped giving the pain reliever. He didn’t want me to be dependent on it. Man, the patient-zilla was born. I buzzed the nurses on every discomfort that I felt.

Only then I realized that liposuction isn’t for me or I’d be actually relieved not getting pregnant for the next two years. I would like to stay away from the hospital premises for at least two years. Please.

Anyway, it feels so good to be home. To finally sleep beside my husband again. To see my daughter sleeping too nearby. Mikee had been crying all afternoon, wanting mommy to carry her. But later in the evening, I showed her my belly. I think she now understands why mommy can’t. She had stopped jumping and aiming for my belly. And just this morning, she smiled, kissed me and sat beside me. Then went back to her bed and slept again.

I’m back but still need so much rest. (Even a trip to the bathroom seems to drain my energies.) We had to postpone 3 out-of-town trips. Those trips could wait.

All I know is that now, I’m happy.
I’m clean. I’m stone-free.

how to choose a domain name

I think it’s high time I share what I know about choosing a domain name. It seems that by the time a friend or an acquaintance asks me my opinion of the new domain name, it has been purchased already. A little reminder, I am not an expert. I am just blogging what I have learned while pondering with mine.

1. Make it relevant to your content. Or at least your targetted audience. Bloggerhappy - I blog on an impulse. Berryscrappy - it is about scrapping. (There are some things related to scrapping like cats, sugar and in my case, berries)

2. Make it short. If it isn’t a business name, go with a one or two-word domain name. They say 12 characters max. The only ones that can get away with the long ones are the ones that are common remarks, quotes, song/movie titles, etc. (You get what I mean)

3. Make it simple. Here’s a test that I actually did before finally deciding on bloggerhappy. Ask a 7-year-old to spell the words for you. If he/she can spell it correctly, then it’s good. ;)

4. Avoid plural words (ending with ’s’) and the “the” word. Why? because people often forget. Same goes with dash and underscore.

5. This one I didn’t follow. Don’t use words that can be spelled in many or slang ways. Like “hapi” for “happy”, “2″ for “to” or “n” for “and”. Why? Again, people tend to forget. ;)

This is why some people cash in on the alter domain name. If you think twopeasinabucket.com is great, you’re sure to get hits for 2peasinabucket.com without much plugging.

6. Go for the .com. I know some people may argue but not all people are net-savvy. When you say a domain, people tend to think .com instead of .net, .us, .ph etc.

That’s all I could think of. Feel free to comment to add more to the list. Again, I’m no expert. Just sharing. ;)
