Web find: Shiloh’s List.

My sister has luckily inherited my mom’s beautifully arched brows. Since both my mom and sister didn’t have the need to shape their brows, I never learned to shape mine. I normally just go to the parlor for someone to shape them for me. Unfortunately, not everyone can shape them in my desired form. It was like a trial and error, most of the time.

My mom (who is more knowledgeable than me on vanity, by the way) suggested brow threading done by a waxing salon. It is their expertise, after all. Then my sister told me that group-buying sites offer vouchers of this type. I can avail it for a much lower price. So we googled immediately, and found The Brow Studio deal from Shiloh’s List, a group-buying site which provides deals, plus loyalty rewards!

Check amazing deals such as this on their website, which is quite new, established only earlier this year. Sign up now. And, why don’t you join the launch on November 22nd, at Venice Piazza Grande in McKinley Hills, Taguig? See you there!

Let’s race.

The husband, as I have previously blogged, has started training on swimming. He also has started running to build endurance. He skipped biking (swim-bike-run), as he is still saving up for a good bike. To be honest, I think he is still contemplating if he wants to be a triathlete or just do competitive swimming. According to him, he even prefers motocross bikes over road bikes, so he’s still reluctant to do the “bike” part in the triathlon. In fact, just the other day, he was browsing online for Fox Helmets. Hmm, maybe I can just give him that as his Christmas gift, if he suddenly buys a motocross bike instead of a road bike.

Thank you, Fairy Hobmother!

Woohoo! I’m so happy! We have just been visited by the Fairy Hobmother! For those of you wondering who Fairy Hobmother is, and why I’m so excited by his visit (yes, you read that right! “his” because he’s a guy fairy), let me introduce you to this awesome fairy who spreads joy and happiness across the blogosphere.

Fairy Hobmother came about when a baby in the UK laughed for the first time. Ok, wait, I made that up. Not really sure how he came about. I just saw many bloggers got so happy and excited by his visits to their blogs, and got me so curious. I left comments on those blogs to express my interest in meeting him too, and invited him to fly my way, making sure Fairy Hobmother will be able to track me if he decides to accept my invitation.

And today he flew in bearing a gift! Wait, before you get confused. It’s not the freezer that I’ve been asking my husband, but it’s also something I can use for the home. Thank you Fairy Hobmother for the early Christmas gift.

See? I told you fairies are real. So why don’t you leave a comment? Who knows, he’ll be sprinkling some fairy dusts your way too.

Treating varicose veins.

I’ve always love how my mom’s legs look younger than most moms her age. They’re slim and firm. But now that she’s older, I noticed the back of her knees have some varicose veins. Though my mom’s isn’t painful, I shared that if she wants, we can order compression socks at ShanMedical.com, and I’d order a pair or two for myself too. I guess I have to add that to my online shopping list for next month.

Shopping for amps and effects.

I think I’ve blogged about my youngest brother a couple of times, probably because I find him very interesting, that he is good in math, music and monkey business. Haha. Just kidding about monkey business. He’s just one of those smart guys who know better ways. In fact, he was the first in our family who ordered his “Effects” online (not sure what type but for me, it looked like a very complicated pedal board) and sent it to our aunt who was about to visit Manila. This saved him international delivery charges. So, that’s how I got the idea of online shopping.

I bet he’ll go nuts if I tell him about the Tax Man Sale. He can get a new set of amps and effects, or accessories for their band that he’d been meaning to buy. He could get as much as 15% off from purchase worth $750 or more. It looks like little brother’s going shopping. :D

love your own. ;)

When I hear Nikon, what comes to mind is their SLRs, plus its wide range of lenses that I would love to have. But I was told by a friend that Nikon binoculars come to his mind when the name “Nikon” is mentioned.

I love the vibrant colors that Nikon produces in its photos. I have this impression that the photos look so alive. On the contrary, I still appreciate my Canon SLR mainly because (unlike Nikon), photos taken from a Canon have “good” skin color, which I need as I take pictures mostly of my kids, and people.

Getting the Kids Ready to go Back to School

Guest post from: Joe Castro

It seems that now-a-days kids get more days off from school than when I was attending. In addition to the holidays, there are teacher/staff days, whether closings and a list of other days that schools have seemed to come up with to clse down the school. This has given my kids more time to be out of school and “ring my nerves”. As soon as they go back there is another scheduled break to soon arrive, only weeks later. This past holiday season seemed very extended and my kids have gotten used to the vacation time. Now that it is time for the school year again, it is time for my own vacation and I have prepared accordingly. I started early by planning ahead and having a game plan. I think that structure is the key to having everything run smoothly. Even if things don’t go exactly the way we plan, the structure provides a basis to fall back on. For instance, about a week before school was to began, I prepped my kids my kids subteties. I would spontaneously mention things regarding school to condition their brains for their return. The goal was to have them thinking about school in anticipation and to not be suddenly shocked with its arrival. I was also going for enthuiasm so that they would be eager about going back. During that week I also scheduled fun outings for shopping for their favorite things that had to do with school, as I took personal time to get their neccecities. By the time school was back in session my kids were more than ready. I simply had to get them up early and ready, set the alarm from TotalAlarmsystems.com and off to school we were. Then back home for me to a nice relaxing and quiet home.

a wise investment.

We are grateful that we weren’t directly affected by Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng but our hearts are breaking how much everyone so near and we know were affected, one way or another. It is really true that everything happens in the blink of an eye and material things can get lost but what matters is what money cannot buy.

I realized that it really is better to have savings stocked for emergencies, especially since calamities have been happening one time or another. Friends have said gold is a wise investment as it never depreciates. It is pretty liquid too. I am not tied to premium coverage years if I need to sell it. Let’s see.

my blogs should be blue???

I was once told in order to balance out orange is to mix or match it with blue. Meaning, they are actually opposites in the color wheel. I really love the colors orange, (hot) pink and red. That’s the reason why I use these colors on my blogs and my scrap pages too.

Quite the opposite of the mood of my blog contents I guess.

Your Blog Should Be Blue

Your blog is a peaceful, calming force in the blogosphere.
You tend to avoid conflict – you’re more likely to share than rant.
From your social causes to cute pet photos, your life is a (mostly) open book.
