my student

Oh, I just received another email from our former classmate. He said we should try Stingaree too when we head downtown. Anyway, enough of that.

Yesterday, I bought two charts (colors and shapes) for Mikee. I was so excited to put them up. Mikee of course, was excited too. Then she approached the charts and started pointing to each picture saying “To! To! To!” her version of “Ito! Ito! Ito! (This! This! This!) This left me clueless as to where she got that. But she was so cute, looking like a grown up ordering something from a menu.

I started teaching her. The funny thing was, I was blabbering for a while when I suddenly noticed that all the while, she was mouthing words (without any sound coming from her) while nodding. Hmm, this is very familiar act. Way back in high school, when I do this, it’s either I agree to what the teacher was saying or I was just pretending to listen. Ugh!

no longer a baby

Mikee is definitely a big girl now. While strolling around the mall, she didn’t want to sit on her stroller. Instead, she liked to run AWAY from mommy and daddy as far as she could. She had fun knowing we were trailing behind her. And when we tried to hold her hand she let go immediately.

Just this afternoon, we tried leaving her and hiding from her behind some stores on each side. We still can see her watching her and expecting her to panic. Guess what? She didn’t. She just kept looking around for us and smiling at people passing by. And still, she was having fun!

I’m not sure if this was because she’s familiar with this mall or simply confident that her parents will come back looking for her. I’m not even sure if I should teach her to be cautious instead. (Need some parenting advice here, hahaha)

How time flies. The next thing you know, she’d still be enjoying the mall, but with her friends instead and will never want to be seen with her parents at all. Yeah, because that would be uncool. ;)

bonding time again

OK, I’m still working and will be till this finishes.

The solutions architect asked me, “how do you manage your time? it seems like you’re working round the clock”  I answered, “I have no idea! And there’s been work-life imbalance already” :(

I’ve been guilty of spending too much time working and less time with Mikee. It used to be that she plays around while I work but lately I can’t manage anymore like she wanted to grab the phone from me when I’m in a conference call, or she pulls up a chair and manage to climb the billiards table (aka Mikee’s golf course).  Of course, we still play together when I’m just monitoring my processes.

And just a minute ago, I had to stand by our room’s door to listen to her sing. I miss her so much but I can’t let her see me ‘coz definitely she’ll want to come with me to the other room (where the laptop is. I can’t work inside our room, the connection is sooooooooo slow) or else, she’ll cry. My heart breaks when I hear her cry.

But doesn’t matter, few hours from now, Mikee and I will be off to hubby’s hometown to spend a four-day vacation there and some swimming. (Yes, so expect more color  )

In the next 4 days, mommy will bond with you Mikee. No yaya, no mobile, no laptop. Just you, me and daddy. ;)

Edited: I couldn’t resist, she’s now playing here, on top of the table!!!

Palm Sunday

It’s Palm Sunday. We went to hear mass. But Mikee was cranky. She slept late last night. So I decided to bring her outside the church to get some fresh air. Mikee approached a little girl who I later found out was the same age as Mikee. The little girl’s mom and I had a little chat.

Then the little girl started eating her biscuits. I know out of courtesy, the mom gave Mikee some. Mikee said “Eykyu” (for Thank You) and started munching like she was not being fed for weeks! (Mind you, she just finished her milk) I was laughing and at the same time, embarrassed. After a minute, she was asking the mom for another one! Gosh, this kept going for like 4 times. She’d ask, the mom will give her, and she’ll say thank you.

I kept saying “Oh no, I’m so sorry. Thank you” and “Mikee, no more..no more” but the mom kept giving Mikee more. So Mikee ended up eating 80% percent of the pack.

Geez.

Then off we went to my parents’ place. My sister showed me some trip brochures. I said I’d get more info and references online for cheaper alternatives on a backpacker’s itinerary for Asia, and ready packages for Europe and US (she’s considering Texas too. I better check North Padre Island rentals). She and her fiancée are now planning their honeymoon this December.

My dad and hubby were listening to the radio to check Pacquiao’s boxing match with Marquez. I remember hubby rejoiced right after the announcer said “…and the NEW…” They watched the match on TV an hour later. I heard the scores and it was a close game.

By this time, Mikee hasn’t slept yet. So you could imagine how cranky she is one minute, and happy the next.
Oh well, she was able to catch some Zzzz’s in the car on our way home.

Now? She’s here running around the room. Looks like it will be a LONG night for us. Tsk tsk.

little miss happy

A little trivia about the Little Miss.

If you give her a spoon, real or toy, she would be very happy that her eyes would twinkle. Very much like the twinkle of my eyes when hubby proposed to me.

If only adults could be easily pleased much like a one-year-old…I guess, a spoon would cost a fortune!

{20 months}

…in mommy’s shoes…

Yes, this is her latest passion: wearing my shoes (sometimes even her daddy’s). She’s now 20 months old. 4 months away from her next birthday, and I have no idea yet what to do on her birthday. Either a simple get-together here at home or a fastfood party (just the usual package, no additional anything). Well, I still have 4 months to think it over. :)

little sacrifices

I know wives will agree to what I will be writing now.

When you love someone so much, you are willing to do some sacrifices for him. Even if it pains you to do so. To save a marriage, or simply for the welfare of your loved one. Even little sacrifices that you won’t do for your boss or best friend. It’s different with your husband or your kids.

So honey, I love you so much that I ate all the chocolates with almonds in our refrigerator. It’s bad for you. I’m willing to sacrifice. ;)

All about the better half

I always say yes he is the better half, because I’m the best! kidding!

How long did you date? shucks. secret? ;)
How old is he? he’s 31.
Who eats more? him.
Who said “I love you” first? him.
Who is taller? he’s taller than me by 6 inches.
Who sings better? none? :P
Who is smarter? ok let’s see.
math, programming and visual, me.
communication skills: both? haha.
athletics: him definitely.
but he’s more logical and streetsmart than I am. And he’s the fastest learner that I’ve met.
hmmm, what are the 7 multiple intelligences again?
music? both fail here
Whose temper is worse? me. no doubt about it.
Who does the laundry? helper
Who does the dishes? helper
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? him.
Who pays the bills? I get to choose who pays the bill, so him!
Who mows the lawn? mow? more like tender the garden. helper.
Who cooks dinner? helper.
Who drives when you are together? him.
Who is more stubborn? me.
Who kissed who first? him. or did I? ;)
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? me. ‘coz I am usually.
Whose parents do you see the most? his.
Who proposed? he did.
Who is more sensitive? him
Who has more friends? him
Who has more siblings? tie. we both have 3.
Who wears the pants in the family? ok, let’s see. He does. but I get what I want by being sweet, stubborn or SEXY

Thanks Jane and Farah!

wanted: playmate

We attended an anniversary celebration last night. Mikee had fun. She had been smiling to her ninang’s boyfriend while eating. They were teasing her of having a crush on him. We were having fun watching her.

Then two kids, our friend’s cousins, arrived. They will be sleeping at that house for the night. Mikee stopped eating to follow the kids. This time, Mikee kept smiling at them, trying to be friendly. She was happy to be with kids. Then the kids decided to go upstairs and play there instead.

I won’t forget the look on Mikee’s face as she watched the two kids climbed the stairs. She wanted to come but she knew she can’t. I don’t know but I felt like I was responsible.

Should we give her a brother or a sister? (Not that we’re not trying, you know) Should I enrol her too soon on a toddler’s class to gain friends? (Current plan: Mikee to enrol November this year)

Hmmm, maybe I should just bug my sister-in-law to have a baby soon. ;)

8 random things about Mikee

Thanks Jane for this.

1. Although Mikee’s afraid of man-made beach motors and pressurized showers, she loves the water. She likes it when it’s calm and predictable like swimming pools.

2. Mikee prefers cars over dolls.

3. Mikee will approach you when you say you have chocolates. :( :)

4.  Mikee likes pretending to use the phone (landline or mobile) but never likes to talk when there’s actually someone on the other line.

5. Mikee used to be a snob. Now she even smiles and waves at strangers.

6. She’s a female version of her dad. The only thing she got from me was her color.

7. Mikee dislikes creamy sauce, mayonnaise, and liquid cheese.

8. Mikee likes it when mommy puts lotion on her every night. And if mommy forgets to, she will bring the lotion to mommy to remind her.

I’m tagging Mich, Kelly and Peachy.

Edited: Thanks to Abie for tagging me with this too.
